Fawnly Privacy Policy

Fawnly is a local-first walking and activity app. It helps you view Apple Health activity, record outdoor walks and other supported activities, keep route history, use Home Screen widgets, and personalize your experience.

Data Stored on Your Device

Fawnly stores app data locally on your device. This may include:

This data is used to make the app work on your device. Fawnly does not sync this data to a Fawnly server.

Home Screen Widgets on iPhone

If you add a Fawnly Home Screen widget, Fawnly stores a limited copy of today's activity summary in its private iOS App Group container so the widget extension can display it. This snapshot can include the local date, last-updated time, Apple Health connection state, steps, walking distance, active calories, floors, daily goal, and distance-unit preference.

The widget snapshot remains on your device and is not sent to a Fawnly server or RevenueCat. The widget does not access Apple Health directly and does not store your name, account identifiers, routes, precise location, or subscription information. Removing Fawnly deletes the app and its associated local widget data according to iOS behavior.

Live Activities on iPhone

While you record an activity, Fawnly may show a Live Activity on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island. Its local snapshot can include the activity type, recording state, elapsed time, distance, and pace. It does not include route coordinates. Live Activity availability and presentation are controlled by iOS.

Accounts and Cloud Sync

Fawnly does not require an account and does not include Fawnly cloud sync. Your activity history, recorded routes, and settings stay on your device unless you choose to back up, transfer, or share data using operating-system features outside of Fawnly.

Ads, Analytics, and Tracking

Fawnly does not include ads or advertising trackers, and does not sell your data. Fawnly does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The only third-party service Fawnly uses is RevenueCat, and only to manage Fawnly Plus subscriptions (see "Purchases and Subscriptions" below).

Apple Health on iPhone

On iPhone, Fawnly can read Apple Health step count, walking and running distance, active energy burned, and flights climbed when you grant permission. Flights climbed may be displayed as floors in Fawnly. This data is processed on your device and is used only to show your activity and history inside the app.

If you enable Save activities to Apple Health, Fawnly can write a completed walking, hiking, or running workout and its recorded GPS route to Apple Health. Fawnly does not write steps, calories, or elevation. This setting is off by default. A workout saved to Apple Health remains managed in Apple Health even if you later delete the local Fawnly activity.

If you choose Restore from Apple Health, Fawnly requests read access to workouts and workout routes. It reads only workouts tagged as created by Fawnly, then stores recovered activity summaries and available route points locally on your device. Restored session steps remain unavailable because Fawnly does not write step samples to Apple Health. Restoration does not upload data or alter Home or History totals.

Fawnly does not transmit Apple Health data to a Fawnly server or to RevenueCat.

You can revoke Fawnly's Apple Health access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps → Fawnly.

Fawnly does not use Motion & Fitness or Core Motion as an iPhone activity fallback. If Apple Health access is not available, activity totals may not refresh until access is restored.

Location and Recorded Routes

Fawnly requests location access only when you choose to start an outdoor activity. Location is used to calculate session distance and pace, draw the route, and continue recording while the screen is locked when background access is granted.

Recorded GPS coordinates and routes are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to a Fawnly server or RevenueCat. If background access is not granted, Fawnly offers foreground-only recording and asks you to keep the app open.

Fawnly uses Apple Maps to render route maps on iPhone. Apple Maps and iOS location services are provided by Apple and are subject to Apple's privacy terms.

When a Plus subscriber creates a route-sharing card, Fawnly transforms the recorded GPS points locally into a normalized route silhouette. The card does not include an Apple Maps background, raw coordinates, start or finish markers, home labels, or reverse-geocoded place names. A route shape can still reveal a familiar pattern, so you should review it before sharing. The card leaves your device only through the system share destination you choose.

You can revoke location permission in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Location Services → Fawnly.

Motion and Fitness

Fawnly may request Motion & Fitness access when you start a recorded activity. It is used only to show optional live steps for that recording. If access is unavailable, session steps are shown as unavailable. Motion data is not used as an iPhone fallback for Home or History.

Paced Walk can play a metronome-style cadence beat. Fawnly does not request microphone access and does not record audio.

You can revoke Motion & Fitness permission in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness.

Android Step Counting

On Android, Fawnly reads your activity from Health Connect when it is available and you grant permission; otherwise it counts live steps using the device step sensor while the app is open. Android distance and calorie values may be estimates. This activity data is used only to show your movement and history inside the app and stays on your device.

Notifications

Notifications are optional. If enabled, Fawnly can schedule a local daily reminder with generic copy. Fawnly Plus subscribers can also enable an optional weekly recap notification that opens the weekly step card. These notifications do not include exact step counts, calories, or distance.

Fawnly requests notification permission only when you choose to enable reminders. You can turn reminders off in Fawnly settings or revoke notification permission in your device settings.

Activity Values

On iPhone, Home and History values come from Apple Health. If Apple Health does not provide distance, active calories, or flights climbed for a period, Fawnly shows those values as unavailable rather than calculating replacements. Values recorded by the activity recorder remain separate session details and are never manually added to Apple Health-backed daily totals.

GPS distance and pace can vary with signal quality and environmental conditions and are provided for general wellness context only.

On Android, distance and calorie values may be estimates and are provided for general wellness context only.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Fawnly offers an optional subscription, Fawnly Plus. Purchases are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); Fawnly never sees your card or full payment details.

To unlock Plus features and restore purchases across your devices, Fawnly uses RevenueCat, Inc. as its subscription manager. RevenueCat receives an app-generated, random subscriber ID and your purchase and subscription history, along with basic device and app information (such as device model, operating system version, and country). RevenueCat does not receive your Apple Health or activity data. RevenueCat processes this information to verify and manage your subscription. Fawnly does not use this purchase information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Not Medical Advice and Activity Safety

Fawnly is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Pay attention to your surroundings, local conditions, and your own limits while recording an activity. Do not interact with Fawnly when doing so would be unsafe.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete individual local recorded activities in Fawnly. Deleting a local activity does not delete a workout already saved to Apple Health. If that Health record remains, the activity can return only when you explicitly choose Restore from Apple Health. Health records must be managed in the Health app.

You can delete other local Fawnly data by deleting the app or clearing its stored data through device settings where supported. Shared images and device backups are controlled by the destination or operating-system service you chose.

You can revoke Fawnly's Health access in the Health app under Sharing → Apps → Fawnly, and you can revoke notification permission in your device settings.
